Old School: A Big Show of Accessibly-Priced Little Gems
2009-04-01 When a press release gets you a little choked up you know it's the apocalypse. But the apocalypse sometimes gets you closer to home. Williamsburg stalwart, Jack the Pelican, has sent out just that press release. Teeming with such usually-suspect words (at least in a press release) as "community of artists", "friends", and "faith" it touches on an honest sense of where we are. And that ain't so bad. Anyway, over fifty artists have contributed to this small works show in support of the recently troubled space. (Did I mention everything is under $2,000?) Jack the Pelican is sticking around with a little help from its friends. The work is a delicious stew of artists; both gallery regulars and talented newcomers. (Um, look at the work by Robin Williams up there. Yeah, I thought so.) So check it out, take advantage of the low low recession prices, and enjoy being part of such a great community of artists, friends, and um faith. |
